Ps3 red screen after update

I also whilst i was tinkering resorted the thermal paste and tidied up the inside of the console as it was belfing. S Links to guide are dead so if they contain info i would love a quick read to see if i am barking up the wrong tree]. Coxy, what you describe as links are files on my fileserver. That is why it is important that you ask your own question, so that we see that someone else is needing some help. All you have to do is click on the"Ask a question" on the right side of this screen.

Right now it looks like you are answering an older question. Anyhow Here are the Service manuals. Just remember that these are board level manuals, definitely helpful if you know what to look for. Good Luck and it looks like you got your hands full to get it going. What step at a time I am having a look at those manuals - thankyou very much. Service mode RSOD's too though. Difference in booting when in service mode is, i get to see the start of the PS3 "wave" unlike retail mode where i see nothing just RSOD.

It would be helpful if i could get the order of the checks from somewhere or even a diagnostics tool that outputs to text file like the service mode updater. Mind you that would be the holy grail really :D. Like how you re-married the blu-ray boards Can you downgrade to any firmware Such as 3. It's starting to sound like a hardware problem. I just found out that downgrading Through any method replaces the registry with a fresh one. All I can think of would be that the hard drive is dying.

If replacing the hard drive doesn't work, then you may have other bigger problems. One other thing to try though, does it boot with the blu-ray drive disconnected?

Chris Green chrisgreen. I just bought bayonetta new. After updating it and playing for about an hour. I turned my PS3 off for a bit. When i came back to play, it started up, showed the PS3 logo then gave me this red screen with multiple languages stating a internal error has occurred.

The only methods i tried was the formatting options on the recovery menu, updating my PS3 to the latest firmware and formatting my HDD in my brothers PS3. I don't want to send my PS3 back to Sony yet because my warranty is done. Accepted Answer. Something posted on the board that has worked at least temporarily Show 2 more comments.

If its done correctly, your PS3 should make a loud fan noise causing the fans to enhance for a while. This could clean out anything that might cause overheating. The instructions to do this are in your user's manual. Also make sure that you have good airflow and that your PS3 is not buried in a carpet or anything else that may restrict the airflow. The only way to take the red screen of death off your ps3 is by software updating it if that did not work try calling Sony network to replace a new ps3.

Im having the same red screen on my ps3. Its says on the screen serious error contact technical support for help. I have replace my hard drive with a brand new one because I tried everything and nothing work. It still has the serious error red screen even with a brand new hard drive in it. Any suggestions? This just happened to me for the first time, my PS3 was fine for years and I've just registered on the Playstation Network, low and behold it's red screened on me!

Turn off the switch at the back. Hold the power button down near the red light, the fans will blow a little harder then it will shut down again back to the red power light. Hold power on again and wait for two bleeps then let go of the power button.

From the menu select option 3 - Restore file system. Go through the menu prompts. It might make it all the way only to end up as a red screen again, this is frustrating but repeat the above steps. Even try restore system etc this will wipe any data, my system couldn't even do this without red screening so go back to a file restore if yours is the same.
