You can improve your chances of receiving a job offer at the end of your internship by learning as much as you can about the business and industry, working hard, networking and continuing to develop your knowledge and skills throughout your time with your host company. We have helped over 3, internationals to find internship placements since starting our business.

Many of our students have been successfully employed by the host company at the end of the internship, whereas others have used their internship experience to successfully find paid roles during or after their internship. We believe that doing an internship can dramatically increase the chances of getting a real paid job as it can differentiate you from your peers in a competitive graduate market.

If you are planning to do an internship for credit points, you will require official university documents outlining the course credit requirements. It is best to speak to your course advisor or the Work Integrated Learning WIL team at your university beforehand, as each university has different requirements for internship subjects.

Once you have the documents, book in for an appointment with one of our Placement Consultants, who will discuss the internship program with you in more detail. They will also highlight the internship opportunities we currently have available in your field of study. While our Work Readiness Program is a training course, we would recommend that you speak with your lawyer or migration agent about any Visa restrictions before you enrol in our program.

Are internships paid or unpaid? The majority of the internships that our Host Companies offer are unpaid. Do you guarantee a permanent or paid role at the end of the internship? Job-readiness training program facilitators typically help participants create a resume and write practice cover letters.

By learning how to format a resume, list experience and showcase skills, participants can then use the output to apply for jobs. Participants learn how to state their abilities truthfully, highlight activities relevant to the job, proofread a resume, create a cover letter, and follow up with a potential employer. For example, a good resume focuses on accomplishment, rather than just duties. When employers receive hundreds of resumes for a job, they might screen resumes using an applicant tracking system that picks out the best resumes by looking for specific keywords.

Job-training students learn how to choose the best keywords for their careers and use them in their resumes and on their LinkedIn pages, which employers also search to help fill jobs.

Getting a job typically requires completing a successful interview. Job-readiness programs typically help participants practice answering typical questions, such as why the are qualified for the job. Using role-playing exercises, participants learn to listen, avoid talking too much, speak professionally, express an appropriate level of confidence, answer questions, and ask for additional information to show interest in the job without appearing desperate.

These programs also help participants learn what is expected of them during the rest of hiring process. Some programs have students go through practice interviews in front of their classmates, who then provide feedback after. Some programs record practice interviews and then allow students to watch, looking at their word choice, eye contact and body language.
